Declared in 1995 as one of the “Great Public Places” in America, Central Market in Lancaster is a legendary place, a tribute both to the city founders as well as to the city administrators through the years. In 1730 as the town’s configuration was being determined, Andrew and James Hamilton designated a place for a public market – a 120 foot square lot in the center of town.
